Beth Mooney added 76, and all-rounder Annabel Sutherland remained unbeaten on 48, hitting the winning six off Deepti Sharma.
Australia will play the final two matches in Hobart on Friday and Sunday. This win was a strong response after their recent home defeat to India in the T20 series, which ended a nine-year unbeaten run.
For India, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana scored half-centuries, with Kashvee Gautam contributing 43 from number eight. Off-spinner Ash Gardner took 3-33, and seamer Megan Schutt grabbed 2-42.
