Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is close to joining Scottish champions Celtic. The 32-year-old has been without a club since leaving Turkish side Besiktas in August and has recently been training with Arsenal to keep fit.
BBC Sport understands a move to Celtic Park is now likely, although a deal has not yet been finalised. Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has confirmed his interest and said talks have taken place, adding that the midfielder seemed excited about the possibility despite having other options.
Oxlade-Chamberlain began his career at Southampton before joining Arsenal in 2011, where he won three FA Cups. He later moved to Liverpool for £35m and enjoyed major success, winning the Champions League, Premier League and several other trophies. Most recently, he played for Besiktas, making 46 appearances and scoring five goals.
