Tottenham decided to sack Thomas Frank almost immediately after Tuesday night’s defeat to Newcastle.
Chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, along with sporting director Johan Lange, made the call after a poor run of results. Venkatesham then recommended the decision to the Lewis family, who own the club, and they quickly approved it.
Many fans had already turned against Frank, but sources say the ownership were aware of the growing anger and left the final decision to club executives. Frank was officially informed on Wednesday morning.
When he joined in June, Frank’s appointment was seen as smart after his success at Brentford, where he won promotion and kept them in the Premier League.
However, he lasted just eight months at Spurs, with problems including player indiscipline, internal disagreements, and concerns over his tactics.
