
England are planning a pink-ball warm-up match before the 150th anniversary Test against Australia at the MCG in March 2027.
After losing 4-1 in the recent Ashes and facing criticism over poor preparation including no pink-ball practice before the day-night Test in Brisbane — coach Brendon McCullum admitted mistakes were made.
The ECB is in talks with Cricket Australia about better preparation for touring teams. Melbourne’s Junction Oval could host the warm-up, though nothing is confirmed.
England have lost all four of their day-night Tests in Australia and face a packed schedule leading into the 2026-27 winter, with tours to Pakistan, Australia, South Africa and Bangladesh.
