Crystal Palace beat Brighton to end their winless run

Ismaila Sarr scored the only goal as Crystal Palace beat rivals Brighton to end their nine-game winless run in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium.

The match looked set to finish 0-0 after a poor first half with very few chances. Palace struggled to create openings, while Brighton’s best efforts came from Lewis Dunk, who headed over and wide from set-pieces.

The breakthrough came just after the hour mark when Sarr picked up a pass from substitute Evann Guessand and calmly chipped the ball over goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with Palace’s first shot on target. It was Sarr’s 10th goal of the season in all competitions.

Brighton pushed for an equaliser, but teenage forward Charalampos Kostoulas was denied by Palace keeper Dean Henderson. The defeat extends Brighton’s poor league form, with no Premier League wins since early January.
