Chelsea returned to winning ways with a key Women’s Super League victory over Tottenham, keeping their top-three hopes alive.
Keira Walsh opened the scoring in the first half against the run of play, and Alyssa Thompson doubled the lead early in the second half. Despite Tottenham being the better side for much of the first half and hitting the crossbar through Olivia Holdt, Chelsea showed their ruthlessness to secure the win after recent back-to-back defeats.
The victory also eased pressure on manager Sonia Bompastor, who recently signed a contract extension keeping her at Chelsea until 2030.
