Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers says it was a “relief” to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo after trade speculation, and confirmed the two-time NBA MVP is close to returning from injury.
The 31-year-old forward stayed with the Bucks after the trade deadline, lifting spirits in the team camp. Antetokounmpo has missed games since suffering a calf strain in January but has been working out and could return soon.
The Bucks have struggled without Giannis this season but perform much better when he plays. He is averaging 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game and has been named an NBA All-Star, underlining his importance to the team.
