British number one Jack Draper beaten by Arthur Rinderknech in Dubai.
Jack Draper, returning to the ATP Tour for the first time since the US Open six months ago, won his opening match against Quentin Halys but was defeated in the second round by world number 31 Arthur Rinderknech 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
The 24-year-old, who reached a career-high ranking of fourth last summer, has slipped to 15th following a long absence caused by a bruised bone in his service arm. Draper said he was proud to make a winning return after a difficult eight months.
Despite a strong start and winning the second set in a tie-break, Draper could not hold off Rinderknech in the deciding set, ending his Dubai run. Rinderknech will face fifth-seeded Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals.
