David Weir says he will do “all I can” to stop Swiss star Marcel Hug from matching his London Marathon record of eight wins.
Hug, a three-time Paralympic marathon gold medallist and six-time London champion, will attempt a sixth consecutive victory on 26 April, while Weir, who last won in 2018, praised Hug as “one of the all-time greats.”
The elite wheelchair field also includes British athletes Sean Frame, Simon Lawson, Nathan Maguire, Michael McCabe, and Johnboy Smith, while Eden Rainbow-Cooper and Swiss star Catherine Debrunner feature in the women’s race. Debrunner, a two-time London winner and five-time 2024 Paralympic gold medallist, narrowly missed her world record last year.
