Wales have called Ospreys lock Rhys Davies into Steve Tandy’s Six Nations squad.
The 27-year-old, who started in the 73-0 loss to South Africa in November, was left out of the original 38-man squad. Davies, now a father, has earned his place thanks to his physicality, aggression in collisions, ball carrying, and ruck work, according to Ospreys coach Mark Jones.
Davies joins fellow locks Dafydd Jenkins, Adam Beard, Ben Carter, and Freddie Thomas in the squad, which now totals 39 players. Earlier this week, Cardiff prop Sam Wainwright also replaced injured teammate Keiron Assiratti.
Wales, dealing with several other injuries, including captain Jac Morgan, Taulupe Faletau, Christ Tshiunza, and Max Llewellyn, start their Six Nations campaign against England at Twickenham on 7 February and finish at home to Italy on 14 March.
