John Mitchell will remain as head coach of the Red Roses until the 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup, after leading England to their first World Cup win in 11 years in 2025.

“I’m pleased to extend my time with the Red Roses,” Mitchell said, highlighting the importance of continuity and building a long-term winning culture.

England record points-scorer Emily Scarratt, who retired from playing last year, joins the coaching team as lead attack and backs coach. She will start a trial period during the 2026 Six Nations while continuing her role at Loughborough Lightning. Former attack coach Lou Meadows will leave.

Scarratt is one of the most respected figures in women’s rugby and has also worked with broadcaster TNT and her rugby podcast.
