Tottenham are set to beat Aston Villa to the £35m signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Spurs have moved ahead of Villa after showing they are willing to meet Atletico Madrid’s £35m asking price, while Villa were hoping to sign the England international on a loan deal.
Gallagher, 25, is keen to complete the move quickly and return to the Premier League, which could boost his chances of getting back into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
Personal terms with Spurs are yet to be finalised but are expected to be straightforward, as Tottenham look to strengthen midfield following Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury.
