Netherlands forward Donyell Malen has joined Roma from Aston Villa after just one year in the Premier League. Villa said the transfer fee is undisclosed, while Roma confirmed it is a loan deal with an option to buy.
The 26-year-old scored 10 goals in 46 games for Villa since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in January 2025. This season, he has managed seven goals but struggled for regular playing time, starting only five league games in 21 appearances.
Malen began his professional career at PSV Eindhoven and also played in the youth systems at Ajax and Arsenal before moving to Dortmund in 2021. Across his career, he has scored 104 goals in 294 club games and 13 goals in 49 appearances for the Netherlands.
At Roma, he will wear the number 14 shirt as the club currently sits fifth in Serie A.
