Gary O’Neil has agreed to become Strasbourg’s new manager after Liam Rosenior left the French club to join Chelsea. The 42-year-old has been without a club since being sacked by Wolves in December 2024.
O’Neil previously managed Bournemouth for a year, helping them avoid relegation in the 2022-23 season before being replaced by Andoni Iraola. He will take charge ahead of Strasbourg’s Coupe de France tie against Avranches on Saturday.
Strasbourg is owned by the same group as Chelsea, and some supporters have expressed frustration over Rosenior’s departure. Club president Marc Keller highlighted the benefits of the ownership, including £100m investment in transfers, the stadium, women’s team, and academy. New sporting director David Weir also played a key role in O’Neil’s appointment.
