Wilfried Nancy looked a broken man as he slowly walked off at full-time, having suffered his sixth defeat in eight games as Celtic manager. He appears overwhelmed by the job and out of his depth.
Celtic played well in the first half and had Rangers under pressure, but once again they failed to score the extra goals they needed. One goal was never going to be enough. When Rangers came back after the break, Celtic collapsed, conceding three goals in just 21 minutes. The turnaround was brutal and sudden.
The same problems showed again – Nancy’s system left huge gaps, players lost their shape, and once things went against them, heads dropped. When Rangers took the lead, Celtic looked finished, lacking belief, fight and direction. It felt like a team unsure of itself and possibly losing faith in its manager.
Nancy’s decisions only added to the confusion. New signing Julian Araujo, a right-back who has barely played this season, was brought on out of position in a huge derby match. Yang Hyun-jun was moved from his best side, helping Rangers more than Celtic. Araujo was then shifted again to centre-back, playing unfamiliar roles in a high-pressure situation.
By then, Celtic were already behind, the crowd was angry, and confidence was gone. Araujo tried his best, but the situation summed up the chaos around Celtic – a team lacking clarity, stability and leadership as the lights went out once again.
