Hosts Morocco held their nerve in Rabat to beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalties and reach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) final.
Youssef En-Nesyri scored the decisive penalty after goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved shots from Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi. With few clear chances during the match, a shootout seemed likely early on.
Morocco’s top scorer Brahim Diaz missed their best opportunity before halftime, misheading a cross from Achraf Hakimi. Nigeria’s key forwards, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, struggled to create chances, with Lookman’s first-half effort easily saved.
The win takes Walid Regragui’s team to their first Afcon final since 2004, aiming for a first title since 1976. Morocco will face Senegal, who beat Egypt 1-0, in Sunday’s final in Rabat.
