Rosenior backs Chelsea Keeper Sanchez after errors and takes the blame

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has taken responsibility for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s mistakes after their 3-2 Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Arsenal.

Sanchez struggled with Arsenal’s first two goals, failing to deal with a Declan Rice corner and letting a cross slip through for Viktor Gyokeres to score. Despite this, Rosenior defended him, saying the errors were part of new tactics he’s asking Sanchez to follow.

“This is on me, not just Rob,” Rosenior said. “I’m asking him to do things he hasn’t done before. If mistakes happen, I take responsibility. He made a world-class save in the second half, and he’ll improve as he adapts.”

Rosenior added it was Sanchez’s first game under him, and he’s confident the team will grow stronger as they work on his instructions. “My job is to help, not blame,” he said.
