Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is asking fans to be patient as the club works on bringing in “necessary” signings to help chase down Hearts and defend their Scottish Premiership title.
O’Neill maintained his perfect domestic record this season with a 1-0 win at Falkirk, keeping Celtic six points behind the league leaders. But the lackluster performance, with only two shots on target, has increased calls from fans for new players.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton criticized the display, calling it “lacklustre” and questioning the club’s recruitment plan.
“We’re making progress, and by the end of the transfer window, we should have players to strengthen the squad,” O’Neill told BBC Scotland. “I wasn’t expecting to be picking up the pieces here and looking at players again. Just give us a bit of time, cut me some slack, and we’ll be OK. The main focus is winning matches, but we also want to add quality to help the players.”
