
Manchester City were held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland after a resilient defensive display at the Stadium of Light, leaving City four points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.
City threatened early, with Bernardo Silva’s close-range effort from Erling Haaland’s flick-on ruled out for offsideand Haaland later firing straight at Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs. Sunderland had their chances too, with Brian Brobbey beaten by Gianluigi Donnarumma and Trai Hume narrowly missing with a header before half-time.
Rodri returned for City at the start of the second half, but Sunderland held firm. Jeremy Doku’s strike was blocked by Nordi Mukiele, while Josko Gvardiol’s attempt hit the post, and Donnarumma denied Eliezer Mayenda.
The game ended 0-0, extending Sunderland’s unbeaten home record this season and frustrating City as they fell further behind Arsenal in the title race.
