Liverpool are unlikely to sell Andy Robertson to Tottenham before the transfer window closes. Spurs made a £5m offer for the left-back, who is out of contract in the summer, but Liverpool have decided not to go ahead with the move.
Although the clubs had agreed in principle that Robertson could leave after Liverpool’s final Champions League league match, the deal depended on Liverpool recalling Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma. That has not happened, and an injury to Joe Gomez has further reduced Liverpool’s defensive options.
Robertson was not pushing for a move, but the Scotland captain wants more regular game time ahead of this summer’s World Cup. He joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and has made 364 appearances, winning nine trophies including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Under new manager Arne Slot, Robertson is no longer first choice, with Milos Kerkez preferred at left-back. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has publicly said he wants Robertson to stay, calling him an important part of the squad.
