Liverpool sign O’Sullivan for a new Club-record Fee

Liverpool have signed Republic of Ireland midfielder Denise O’Sullivan on a permanent deal from North Carolina Courage.

The 31-year-old still had a year left on her North Carolina contract, but Liverpool paid a club-record fee of around £300,000, surpassing the previous record of £210,000 for Olivia Smith in 2024.

O’Sullivan brings huge experience, having earned 128 caps for Ireland since her debut in 2011 and played for clubs in the United States, Australia, Scotland, England, and Ireland. She spent nine years at North Carolina Courage, making over 150 appearances and serving as club captain in her final season.

Liverpool’s long-term plans and facilities at Melwood were key factors in her move, despite interest from other clubs.

"It means a lot. It’s a very proud moment for me and my family, who are now only a 40-minute flight away," said O’Sullivan. "Liverpool is a massive club and with that comes massive responsibility. I can’t wait to get to work and give 100% every day."
