Leicester City have sacked boss Marti Cifuentes after just six months in charge. The 43-year-old leaves with the Foxes in the bottom half of the Championship after Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Oxford United, their 11th defeat in 29 league games under him.
Cifuentes was hired in July to help Leicester return to the Premier League following their second relegation in three years, but the team sits 14th, six points off the play-off spots. Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha thanked Cifuentes for his “total commitment” but said a change was needed to improve performances.
This marks Leicester’s sixth permanent manager since Brendan Rodgers was sacked in April 2023. Andy King will take over temporarily as the club searches for a permanent replacement. Leicester face Charlton Athletic at home next.
