Glasner to depart Crystal Palace at season’s end

0

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 51-year-old Austrian is leaving as a club hero, having led Palace to their first major trophy last season by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Glasner also guided the Eagles into their first European competition this season in the Conference League and won the Community Shield against Liverpool. He revealed that he decided not to sign a new deal months ago, and the club kept it private until now. He stressed his departure is not related to transfer decisions, such as captain Marc Guehi’s reported move to Manchester City.

Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson in February 2024 and turned Palace around, leading them to a 10th-place finish in his first partial season, then 12th in his first full campaign alongside FA Cup success. Despite recent struggles—including a nine-match winless run and a shock FA Cup defeat to non-league Macclesfield—Glasner remains highly respected and has been linked to the Manchester United job.

He said he is looking for a new challenge but promised to give his best to finish Palace’s season strongly and aim for another trophy. Glasner’s era officially ends in June, but he believes the club is well-positioned for continued success, despite recent ups and downs.
