Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat West Ham United thanks to a dramatic late penalty from Morgan Gibbs-White. The spot-kick was awarded after VAR checked an incident where Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola accidentally hit Gibbs-White in the face while trying to punch away a cross.
West Ham had taken an early lead when Crysencio Summerville’s corner was flicked on by Tomas Soucek, leading to an own goal by Forest defender Murillo. Forest equalised through Nicolas Dominguez’s header from a corner before Gibbs-White calmly converted the late penalty to seal the win.
The result gives Forest their first victory in five matches, while West Ham’s winless run stretches to 10 games. The Hammers remain 18th, seven points behind 17th-placed Forest.
