Justin Gaethje says he is ready to “teach” Paddy Pimblett some lessons when they fight at UFC 324 in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The two lightweights will battle for the interim title, with 37-year-old Gaethje accepting he goes into the fight as the underdog. Pimblett has predicted a quick win, saying he expects to finish Gaethje within three rounds and describing him as mainly a boxer who uses leg kicks.
Gaethje, however, believes Pimblett’s confidence could work against him. He said the fight is all about who stays sharp for the full 25 minutes, makes fewer mistakes and is better prepared. The American added that he wants to drag Pimblett into the later rounds and do serious damage.
Known for getting inside opponents’ heads, Pimblett has claimed he could retire Gaethje with a dominant performance. Gaethje responded by saying he thrives under pressure and enjoys being the underdog.
He admitted Pimblett is unpredictable and dangerous, especially with his grappling, but questioned his wrestling ability. When asked for a prediction, Gaethje said he sees Pimblett being knocked out, insisting all he needs is one clean moment to “turn his lights off.”
