Manchester United’s interim manager Darren Fletcher says he hasn’t had any talks about his future at the club and has only been concentrating on the FA Cup third-round match against Brighton.
Fletcher was put in charge for two games after Ruben Amorim was sacked. After that, United are expected to appoint a caretaker manager for the rest of the season. Former managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick are seen as the main options.
It is still unclear whether Fletcher will stay involved with the first team or return to his previous role as under-18s coach.
The former United and Scotland midfielder said he hasn’t spoken to minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe since Amorim left. He also said there have been no discussions with chief executive Omar Berrada or football director Jason Wilcox about what will happen after the Brighton match.
Fletcher said there have been no conversations about his future. He explained that club leaders have given him full control over these two games, allowing him to make decisions, lead the team, and prepare the players.
He added that his full attention has been on doing the job properly and getting the team ready for the matches.
Senior figures at Manchester United are said to be impressed with how Fletcher has handled the role so far, including dealing calmly with the pressure that comes with it.
