Brobbey Scores to give Sunderland a win and add to Crystal Palace’s Misery

Brian Brobbey scored a second-half winner as Sunderland came from behind to beat Crystal Palace, ending their five-game winless run in the Premier League.

Yeremy Pino gave Palace the lead in the first half with a delicate finish over Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs after a corner wasn’t cleared. But Sunderland responded quickly, with Enzo le Fee turning Nordi Mukiele’s cross into the bottom corner to make it 1-1 within three minutes.

The second half saw few clear chances, but Sunderland controlled possession. Brobbey, showing great skill to shake off his marker, lifted Noah Sidiki’s pass into the net via the underside of the crossbar to score his fourth league goal of the season and secure the win. Trai Hume nearly added a second goal late on but missed a big chance.

The victory means Sunderland have equalled Ipswich Town’s 11-match unbeaten home record by a newly promoted Premier League side, set back in 1992-93.

For Crystal Palace, it was another disappointing week, having been knocked out of the FA Cup by sixth-tier Macclesfield and facing summer departures including captain Marc Guehi and manager Oliver Glasner. The Eagles are now without a win in their last 10 games, while Sunderland climb above Newcastle into the top half of the table.
