Dublin-born Joshua Brennan has been called up to the France squad for their Six Nations opener against Ireland on 5 February in Paris.
The 24-year-old Toulouse lock, son of former Ireland second row Trevor Brennan, replaces club-mate Thibaud Flament, who will miss the game due to his wife’s fertility treatment.
Brennan made his France debut on the tour of New Zealand in July, playing twice against the All Blacks when coach Fabien Galthie rested several first-team players. This season, he has been a regular for Toulouse, starting nine games and coming off the bench in three more. While mainly a lock, he has also played in the back row.
