Aston Villa are close to signing Besiktas striker Tammy Abraham in an £18m deal. The 28-year-old is expected to travel to the UK this weekend and undergo a medical on Saturday.
Abraham has been a key target for Villa boss Unai Emery, who wants extra firepower to support Ollie Watkins after Donyell Malen’s recent sale to Roma.
Abraham joined Besiktas on loan from Roma last summer, with an obligation to buy that the Turkish side has reportedly activated for around £12m. As part of the deal, Villa defender Yasin Ozcan, currently on loan at Anderlecht, may move to Besiktas.
Villa’s football operations chief, Roberto Olabe, even flew to Turkey to watch Abraham in action as Besiktas beat Kayserispor 1-0 on Monday.
Abraham moved from Chelsea to Roma in 2021 for £34m, making 120 appearances and helping the club win the Conference League in 2021-22. He had a record 17 league goals in his debut Serie A season and is the third-highest English scorer in Serie A history with 29 goals.
Abraham previously played for Villa on loan in 2018-19, scoring 25 goals to help them return to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.
