Cole Palmer is very, very happy at Chelsea, says Coach Rosenior

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior says forward Cole Palmer is “very, very happy” at Stamford Bridge, despite reports he is homesick and linked with a move to Manchester United.

The 23-year-old, who grew up in Manchester and was a boyhood United fan, joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 for £42.5m and signed a contract extension in August 2024, keeping him at the club until 2033.

Rosenior acknowledged Palmer has faced a frustrating season due to a groin injury, which affected his performances. After scoring a penalty in Chelsea’s 2‑0 win over Brentford, Palmer went straight down the tunnel, fueling speculation about his future. Rosenior explained this was due to frustration at not performing at his best, not unhappiness at Chelsea.

Palmer missed Chelsea’s midweek Champions League win over Pafos with a minor thigh injury. Rosenior said the club will monitor his training before Sunday’s Premier League trip to Crystal Palace.

Rosenior also provided updates on other injuries: goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen may return for Wednesday’s game at Napoli, while midfielder Dario Essugo will be out for over a month after a training injury.
