Algeria reached the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after scoring a late winner in extra time to beat DR Congo. Adil Boulbina struck deep into extra time, cutting inside and firing a powerful shot into the net to decide the match.
The game in Rabat was tight and low on chances, with both defences on top. DR Congo looked set to take the tie to penalties before Boulbina’s goal settled it. The result was harsh on the Congolese, who competed well throughout.
Algeria, the 2019 Afcon champions, have now kept another clean sheet and will face Nigeria in the quarter-finals in Marrakesh.
