Worst two days since joining Chelsea, says Maresca

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said the two days leading up to Saturday’s win over Everton were the hardest he has experienced since taking charge at the club.

Despite Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, which lifted them back into the Premier League top four, Maresca admitted he felt frustrated and unsupported after a difficult week that included a Champions League defeat.

He said the team had dealt with a lot of problems, including injuries and suspensions, and felt the players deserved more backing for their efforts. Maresca stressed that the squad has performed well despite often missing key players like Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Liam Delap.

While he made it clear his comments were not aimed at Chelsea fans, he said he hoped people outside the club would better appreciate the hard work and commitment shown by his players.
