After a slow start to the season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has burst back into the spotlight, scoring seven goals in six games and taking his Premier League tally to eight with a strike in Leeds’ 1-1 draw against Sunderland. This makes him the top English scorer in the league so far.
The 28-year-old joined Leeds on a free transfer from Everton over the summer, following a spell plagued by injuries. His resurgence has been boosted by Daniel Farke’s counter-attacking 3-5-2 system, and his six-game scoring streak puts him in rare company—only 11 English players have scored in six or more consecutive Premier League games. Even England captain Harry Kane has never gone this long, with his best being two separate five-game streaks. The only English striker to do better recently was Jamie Vardy, who scored in eight straight games for Leicester in 2019.
With this form, Calvert-Lewin could still push his way into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.
