Marcus Rashford says he doesn’t feel any pressure at Barcelona and is enjoying learning a “new language of football” as his loan spell continues to go well after leaving Manchester United.
The 28-year-old England forward joined Barça on loan in the summer after a tough spell at Old Trafford and a short loan at Aston Villa last season. Since moving to La Liga, he has been impressive, scoring six goals and providing eight assists in 21 games.
Rashford told BBC Sport: “I don’t see anything here as pressure. I’m just here to play football. It’s been amazing – I feel welcome, I feel at home.”
He also said Barcelona were his favourite club outside England when he was younger, and he is enjoying settling into life in Spain, including trying to learn the language and local culture.
Rashford scored 138 goals in 426 games for Manchester United and won five major trophies, but he lost his place under manager Ruben Amorim. That led to a loan to Villa, where his strong performances helped him return to the England squad under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Barcelona have an option to sign Rashford permanently for £30.3m (35m euros) in 2026, and Rashford has said he would like to stay.
Calling the experience a “new language of football”, Rashford said playing for “the biggest club in Spain” is a huge honour. In Tuesday’s 2-1 Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt, he came off the bench and assisted Jules Kounde, earning praise from Spanish media.
With Barcelona four points clear at the top of La Liga after five straight league wins, Rashford says his goal for the rest of the season is simple: “Just to win.”
He added: “This club demands that. The environment pushes us to be the best players we can be.”
