New Zealand’s openers, Tom Latham and Devon Conway, made history by both scoring centuries in each innings of a Test match. In the third and final Test against the West Indies, Latham scored 137 and 101, while Conway added 100 in the second innings after making 227 in the first. Together, they put on 323 runs in the first innings and a total of 515 runs across the match—a record for an opening pair in Test cricket.
Conway also became only the 10th player in Test history to score a double hundred and a hundred in the same match, joining legends like Greg Chappell, Sunil Gavaskar, and Brian Lara. Earlier on day four, the West Indies were all out for 420, giving New Zealand a lead of 155.
Latham and Conway, with help from Kane Williamson (40) and Rachin Ravindra (46), took New Zealand to 306-2 before declaring, leaving the West Indies needing 462 to win and level the series. By the close, the West Indies openers were 43-0, with John Campbell scoring 2 off 50 balls and Brandon King making 37.
