Nick Kyrgios is set to play his first ATP Tour match in 10 months after receiving a wildcard for next month’s Brisbane International. The Australian has only played five singles matches in 2025 due to fitness issues, with his last match being a second-round loss to Karen Khachanov at the Miami Open in March.
Before Brisbane, he’ll appear in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition on 28 December, facing women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka. The match, which has sparked debate, will be shown live on BBC One.
Kyrgios will also compete in the Kooyong Classic warm-up event in Melbourne in January as he aims to return to the Australian Open. The 30-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent years, causing his world ranking to fall to 673. Without a protected ranking, he will need a wildcard to play in the first Grand Slam of 2026. Since 2022, he has played only one Grand Slam match, losing in the first round to Britain’s Jacob Fearnley at Melbourne Park.
