Hojlund’s move to Napoli is expected to be completed soon

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna says Rasmus Hojlund’s permanent move from Manchester United to the Italian club is almost certain.

The 22-year-old striker joined Napoli on a season-long loan and has scored nine goals so far. He also won the Italian Super Cup and hinted at his happiness by posting online: “What a great decision looks like.”

Napoli have an obligation to buy Hojlund for £38m if they qualify for the Champions League, which they are currently on course to do as they sit third in Serie A. Manna said both the club and the player already see the move as settled.

Hojlund struggled for regular minutes at Manchester United last season, scoring four league goals, and fell further down the pecking order after new signings arrived. Napoli moved quickly to secure him, beating off interest from other clubs.
