Chelsea crushed Liverpool 9-1 to reach the Women’s League Cup semi-finals, while last season’s runners-up Manchester City also advanced with a big win.
Sam Kerr opened the scoring for Chelsea with two goals, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd completed a hat-trick. Wieke Kaptein added two goals, while Sjoeke Nusken and Millie Bright also scored. Jenna Clark scored Liverpool’s lone goal, but the Reds remain winless in their last four matches and sit at the bottom of the Women’s Super League.
In the semi-finals, Chelsea will face Manchester City, who beat West Ham 5-1 on Sunday. Kerolin and Lauren Hemp gave City an early 2-0 lead, with Riko Ueki pulling one back for West Ham. City then sealed the win with goals from Grace Clinton, Khadija Shaw, and Laura Coombs.
