Alessia Russo scored in her 100th Women’s Super League appearance as Arsenal beat Everton at Goodison Park to move up to second in the table.
Arsenal started strongly and took the lead early when Katie McCabe fired in a long-range effort. Everton quickly hit back through Honoka Hayashi, who scored with a powerful shot from distance.
The equaliser didn’t last long, though. Just minutes later, Russo got Arsenal back in front when the ball deflected off her chest and crossed the line, with Caitlin Foord also on hand to score if needed.
Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan made several saves to keep the score close, but Arsenal stayed on top. Late in the game, substitute Olivia Smith sealed the win with a long-range volley.
The match also saw Leah Williamson return from injury for her first appearance of the season. The loss leaves Everton ninth in the table, still without a home point this season.
