EPL: My son will be disappointed I didn’t celebrate goal against Arsenal – Theo Walcott

Former Arsenal star, Theo Walcott has said his son would be disappointed that he did not celebrate his goal against the Gunners.

Walcott put Southampton 2-0 up in the first half but resisted the temptation of celebrating against his former side.

The former England international, who spent more than a decade at Arsenal, decided not to celebrate the goal that looked set to help the Saints climb off the bottom of the Premier League.

But Southampton left the Emirates with mixed emotions after giving up their 3-1 lead to settle for 3-3 against the Premier League leaders. Thanks to Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka’s late goals.

“My son’s going to be really disappointed that I didn’t celebrate but I just couldn’t,’ the 34-year-old told the BBC.

“It was a very indifferent day for me today, I felt like I couldn’t win. Hopefully, now Arsenal can go on and win the league and beat Man City on Wednesday.”
