Real Madrid coach Ancelotti: I am clear about Benzema; Rodriguez could start

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits he'd like Karim Benzema to stay next season.

The veteran is off contract in June.

Ancelotti said: "For me, Karim is a lifelong player for Madrid.

"I don't know what will happen next year. I am clear about what I want, but I am not a magician.

Against Espanyol, the coach has already declared Rodrygo will play at No9 and praised his versatility.

"Honestly, I think Rodyrgo has to play where the team needs him. Sometimes it's better for him to play on the outside, in other games it's better to have his quality between the lines. It depends on our approach. We have to take advantage of his quality.

Álvaro Rodríguez has again been put on notice.

"He is prepared, yes. He has no experience, but nobody has it when they start a job or do something. He can play from the first minute," said Ancelotti.
