Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez thinking about one West Ham player – Moyes

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has been thinking about the midfield battle which will ensue with West Ham United’s Declan Rice when both teams clash in Saturday’s Premier League tie.

This claim was made by West Ham United boss, David Moyes on Friday.

Moyes spoke at his pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s Premier League tie with Chelsea on Saturday afternoon at the London Stadium.

“He [Fernandez] might be thinking similarly about playing against Dec [Declan Rice],” Moyes said.

“Dec loves his football. We watch and we talk about all the good players and Enzo Fernandez is an excellent player. He showed it in the World Cup.

“I knew about him when he was at Benfica. I spoke to the Benfica manager about him in November, who had given him incredible praise about how good of a player he was. So I knew he was on the radar.

“Obviously, the World Cup highlighted what his capabilities were. We try to give the players the information we can about the opposition.

“The players are not daft. They will have watched the World Cup and seen recent Premier League games. But it is quite difficult with Chelsea because they’ve got so many new players in.”

Fernandez is currently the British transfer record holder, having cost £105million from Benfica last month, but Rice has been tipped to break that fee when he finally leaves West Ham, potentially this summer.
