World Cup: Ex-Eagles forward, Aghahowa backs Senegal to shine in Qatar

Former Super Eagles forward, Julius Efosa Aghahowa believes the Terangha Lions of Senegal will make the biggest impact among the five African countries going to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The quadrennial tournament will kick-off in Qatar on Sunday night.

Aside Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco and Tunisia are the other countries from the continent that will compete for honours in the Asian country.

Senegal will be without their talismanic forward, Sadio Mane, who is ruled out of the competition with injury.

Head coach, Aliou Cisse, however, has a rich list of forwards to pick from.

Despite the Bayern Munich star’s absence, Aghahowa is still backing the West Africans to go all the way in Qatar.

“We have African champions and I will be going for Senegal but I know they don’t like me very much in Senegal because of what I did to them at AFCON 2000 and AFCON 2022. They will definitely not forget that,” Aghahowa told reporters in Lagos.

“Despite that, I will support them because they worked very hard to become African champions and they will represent the continent very well.”
