Manchester United are exploring the prospect of re-signing Memphis Depay from Barcelona.
Sport says United manager Erik ten Hag sees Depay as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, after his contract was terminated yesterday.
United will back Ten Hag with a move for Depay - so long as Barca grant him a free transfer in January.
The Catalans would be prepared to release Depay, with his deal to expire in June.
For his part, Depay doesn't want to make a decision until after the World Cup. The Holland international came close to joining Juventus last summer, though his €7m-a-year demands proved too rich for the Italians.
