UCL: Joao Felix told to leave Atletico Madrid after 1-0 defeat to Man City in quarter final tie

Former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has told Atletico De Madrid’s forward, Joao Felix to leave immediately in order to fulfill his career dreams.

Felix caught a frustrated figure as Manchester City recorded a narrow win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, as he hardly received the ball in good areas.

And Owen noted that the Portuguese would not have enjoyed Diego Simeone’s defensive approach to a game such as this

The LaLiga champions did not even register a shot on goal in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne fired Manchester City in the lead, and the second-half goal sealed the victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Felix looked bright when on the ball, but Atletico barely threatened City’s goal, while Simeone has faced criticism over his side’s defensive approach.

Hargreaves believes Felix needs to leave the Spanish side, the same way Rodri left Barcelona and is doing at City.

He believes the Portugal international can walk straight into first teams of Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester City, adding that the player will thrive in a more attacking team.

“I think you watch him and go, ‘he gets into the Liverpool team, he gets into the City team, or the Chelsea team’. He’s upside is that good,” Hargreaves told BT Sport

“Rodri came here [to City] and played in this defensive Atletico side and now he’s playing in an important team. He [Felix] will get a chance to play in a top team, because he’s that good.”
