‘Weak and pathetic’ – Carragher slams Arsenal after 2-0 defeat to Brentford

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has labelled Arsenal ‘weak and pathetic’ after Mikel Arteta’s side slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Premier League new boys Brentford on Friday.

Sergi Canos scored the first ever Premier League goal in Brentford’s history. It was also the first Premier League goal of the 2021/2022 season.

Brentford fielded a starting XI of players who had never played in the English topflight before and were rewarded for their intensity and bravery.

Sergi Canos sent a rasping drive past Arsenal goalkeeper, Bernd Leno at the near post.

Smith-Rowe and Tierney were perhaps the only positives to take from Arsenal’s display.

Christian Norgaard rose powerfully to blast the ball into the back of the net for Brentford second goal after Arsenal new signing, Ben White allowed a long throw to bounce through his face.

Carragher, “Weak, pathetic,” he said. “Men against boys.

“How do you describe that defending by Arsenal? It’s called the Arsenal way.”
