Andy Ruiz Jr has revealed he was offered the chance to join the WWE after his shocking heavyweight win against Anthony Joshua. Ruiz Jr shocked the world to produce one of the biggest upsets in boxing history when he beat Joshua at Madison Square Garden in June.
But the Mexican has revealed that since then, he’s been offered the chance to venture into the world of professional wrestling - just like Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury made his WWE debut a couple of weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown before appearing on RAW days later.
The Gypsy King has since had a match booked for October 31 in Saudi Arabia, where he’ll face Braun Strowman.
The move by Fury has gone down well with boxing fans, who believe the Lineal heavyweight champion has utilized a huge fanbase to boost his profile brilliantly.
But Ruiz Jr has admitted that, despite an offer from WWE, he couldn’t distract himself from preparing for his rematch with Joshua.
“They invited me to go a while back when I won the title - they invited me to go over there and check it out,” he said.
“But you know what, boxing is my life so this is the only thing I know how to do besides being with my family.
“I’m going to stick to boxing and accomplish more and maybe down the line we'll look for something else to do.”
Ruiz Jr will take on Joshua for the second time this year in Saudi Arabia as well, on December 7.
