Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche has shown off his UEFA Europa Conference League winner’s medal on social media, accompanying the post with a cryptic message that has been widely interpreted as a subtle dig at former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
Uche spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace from Getafe after emerging as one of the Spanish club’s standout performers. However, his spell in England proved frustrating, with the Nigerian making only limited appearances and playing just 159 Premier League minutes, all from the bench.
The 22-year-old was also omitted from Palace’s squad for the knockout stages of the Conference League after featuring only during the first half of the campaign.
Despite his minimal involvement, Uche received a winner’s medal after Crystal Palace lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy. Celebrating the achievement on social media, he posted a message many believe was directed at Glasner, although he did not mention the Austrian coach by name.
“A devilish person might try to bring you down with their wicked actions, but you are resilient and blessed, rising above their negativity. Thank you, UEFA,” Uche wrote.
