Transfer Chase for Adams, Ejuke Heats Up

0

The futures of Super Eagles duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke have come under fresh scrutiny as interest in both players gathers momentum during the summer transfer window, with Italian club Venezia closing in on Adams while Saudi Arabian sides intensify their pursuit of Ejuke.

Adams, who scored 10 goals and registered three assists in 32 appearances to help Sevilla avoid relegation last season, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish club as they look to generate funds through player sales.

Although Marseille and Sunderland were previously touted as potential destinations, both clubs have since cooled their interest, with the Nigerian striker initially favouring a stay at Sevilla.

Venezia, however, have remained determined in their pursuit. The newly promoted Serie A club saw an opening bid of under €10 million rejected by Sevilla, who value the striker at €25 million.

Despite the setback, negotiations have continued. According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Venezia have now reached an agreement with Adams on personal terms, including his salary and other contractual details.

The remaining obstacle is an agreement between the two clubs. Sevilla are standing firm on their valuation, a figure that could stretch Venezia's financial capacity as they prepare for a difficult battle to retain their Serie A status. However, with pre-season approaching, both sides are expected to continue talks in the hope of reaching a compromise.

Meanwhile, Sevilla could also sanction the departure of Ejuke before the new campaign, with clubs from Saudi Arabia emerging as the frontrunners for the winger's signature.

The La Liga club officially began their summer transfer business on July 1, with player sales becoming a priority after a failed takeover attempt and the need to create room on the wage bill to register new signings.

Qatari clubs are also monitoring the 28-year-old, but Saudi Pro League sides are considered better placed financially to meet both Sevilla's demands and Ejuke's personal terms.

Ejuke has also attracted interest from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, as well as Premier League clubs Fulham, Sunderland and Leeds United, setting up what could be a busy few weeks for the Nigerian international.
