Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to South African side Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season, five months after leaving the club.
The 30-year-old rejoins the Chilli Boys after spending several months away from competitive football following his departure in February 2026, a spell that impacted his standing with Nigeria's senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali's return on Sunday through its official social media channels.
"Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys," the club posted.
In a follow-up statement, Chippa United added: "After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club."
Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 and established himself as one of Nigeria's top goalkeepers following his standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished runners-up.
His prolonged absence from club football in recent months, however, limited his match fitness and contributed to him losing his place in the Super Eagles setup.
The goalkeeper will now be aiming to rebuild his career with regular first-team football at Chippa United as he seeks to reclaim his spot in Nigeria's squad ahead of upcoming international competitions.
